History: The Montreal Expos were the first Canadian city in major league baseball, and in 1970, anxious to keep their affiliate in Canada, they the Buffalo Bisons to the Manitoba capital in mid-season. Whips hurler Ernest McAnally struck out 176 batters to lead the league, but their 1,100 mile isolation from their nearest foe was the franchises undoing, and they were moved to Virginia after the 1971 season.
