2 reviews

History: The Fighting Illini Baseball team of 1959 compiled an overall record of 22 wins vs. 9 losses. Within that victory total came a 16 game winning streak helped along by the best fielding unit in the Big Ten. This was just the 8th season at the helm for Coach Lee Eilbracht who would go on to complete his 27 year career as the winningest coach in school history posting a 518–395 record. The University of Illinois Fighting Illini are currently members of the Big Ten Conference and play their home games at Illinois Field, Champaign, Illinois.

FIGHTIN ILLINI FUN FACT: While both known for their towering football prowess and contributions to the sport, Harold Edward "Red" Grange and George "Papa Bear" Halas also starred in the sport of baseball as outfielders while attending the University of Illinois.
