United States League Baseball 1946 T-Shirt
History: The USBL was Branch Rickey’s foray into Negro league baseball. Whether Rickey was generally interested in the success of the league, or if he just wanted a means of scouting African-American players for his upcoming gambit of breaking baseball’s “color line” is still the subject of debate by baseball historians. Black baseball entrepreneur Gus Greenlee was the main force behind the league, which placed teams in Brooklyn, Boston, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh.
