History: The AAA affiliate of the New York Mets, the Tidewater Tides went 79-61 under Hank Bauer's stewardship, but lost to the Rochester Red Wings in the final round of the 1971 playoffs. Tides starting pitcher Buzz Capra led the International League with a 2.19 ERA.
