History: One of the more notable Major League players to jump to the Federal League, the Terriers pulled Hall of Fame pitcher Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown from the Cincinnati Reds before the 1914 season. Brown, whose nickname came from a farming accident that mangled two fingers on his pitching hand, posted a 12-6 record in St. Louis while also serving as manager. He was fired, however, in August of the season and finished the year with the Brooklyn Tip Tops.
