History: The Sparta Benevolent and Athletic Association was founded by Czech immigrants in 1915. The Sparta soccer club began play in the Chicago Major League in 1924. From 1927 to 1947 Sparta won eleven league championships and two National Challenge Cups, including a victory over Brooklyn’s St. Mary’s team in 1938. Sparta had their own stadium, Sparta Stadium at 27th Street and South Kostner. A match with Hakoah Vienna drew 12,000 to Comiskey Park in 1927.
We recommend washing in a gentle cycle and laying flat to dry in order to preserve the felt work.
