History: The Gales were one of two Bay Area teams in 1967, the other being the rival NPSL's Oakland Clippers. The USA's business model was to import entire foreign teams to represent the North American clubs. The Gales were actually ADO Den Haag from The Hague, Netherlands. San Francisco finished second in the USA's Western Division. The team did not make the cut when the two leagues merged in 1967, but their owners bought a controlling stake in the Vancouver Royals. The Gales played home games at Candlestick Park and Kezar Stadium.
