History: The '47 Eagles made the first playoff appearance in team history as they finished atop the NFL Eastern Division with a record of 8-4. They went on to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-0 at their home stadium, Forbes Field, in the Divisional round before falling to the Chicago Cardinals 28-21 at Comiskey Park in the Championship. Halfback Steve Van Buren claimed the league rushing title and broke the NFL's 23 year-old single-season rushing record that season by carrying the ball for 1,008 yards. Van Buren went on to claim the rushing title three consecutive years, repeating his feat in '48 and '49 and helped the team to back-to-back championships.
