History: 1947 marked the first time since the Eagles were founded in 1933, that they would win their division. They would lose the NFL title game in a hard fought battle with the Chicago Cardinals, 28-21. The following season with the same nucleus of players, including Pro Bowl Quarterback Tommy Thompson, and future Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Steve Van Buren, the Eagles went on to capture back-to-back NFL Championships in 1948-1949. Today the Eagles are members of the NFC East and play their home games in Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA.
