History: After delaying his baseball career so he could play basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters, Bob Gibson started the season with St. Louis, but was assigned to the Cardinals' Omaha affiliate. Omaha was managed by Joe Schultz, who later was made famous as skipper of the Seattle Pilots, mostly through his written portrayal in Jim Bouton's book "Ball Four", in which Schultz' more colorful aphorisms were quoted.
