History: Ron Mix was a 9x-ALL AFL Offensive Tackle as a member of the LA/San Diego Chargers. He was the #1 Draft Choice coming out of USC in 1959 by both the NFL (Baltimore Colts) & AFL (LA Chargers) and chose to stay on the West Coast. Mix was so skilled and meticulous at his position that he was called for holding only TWICE in his 11 year Pro Football Hall of Fame career. He helped lead the pass-happy Chargers to an AFL Championship in 1963 over the Boston Patriots 51-10. Mix was also known for being the first white player to boycott the 1965 AFL All-Star game in solidarity with his African American teammates.
