History: The Reds (or Rojos) were founded by Mexican baseball legend and manager Ernesto Carmona who helped create Mexico’s first professional league in 1925. Sinaloa-born Chile Gomez joined the Reds in 1943, after a major league career in which he was the first Latino player for the Philadelphia Phillies and only the second Mexican-born player in the majors.
