History: Although sometimes called the “Keeleys” after manager Burt Keeley, our research shows that in 1913 the team was more often referred to as the “Browns” (presumably after the team colors) in local newspaper accounts. Chicago (playing as the Green Sox) began play the previous season as part of the United States League, the forerunner of the Federal League. Home games were played at Gunther Park, eleven blocks north of the current Wrigley Field on Ashland Avenue. The 1913 club finished fourth in the 6-team league.
