History: Since 1914 Kent State has fielded a baseball team, making baseball the school's oldest intercollegiate athletics program. At the time of the baseball team's founding the school was called the Kent State Normal School, and the team was the "Normal Nine." Starting in 1927, after a student vote, the baseball and other sports teams became known as the Golden Flashes. The baseball team made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1964, and today they play their home games at Schoonover Stadium in Kent, OH.
