Havana Tropicals 1938-39 Hockey Utility Shirt
History: In one of the most curious chapters of professional hockey history, the Tropical Hockey League was created in 1938 as the first attempt to establish pro hockey in the Deep South. All four league clubs played at Miami’s Metropolitan Ice Palace (the other three teams were the Miami Clippers, Miami Beach Pirates, and Coral Gables Seminoles). Players were imported from Western Canada. The league was not a success due to the unfamiliarity of Florida fans with the new game, and Florida did not field another professional hockey team until the Jacksonville Rockets arrived in 1964, but nevertheless, here is Cuba’s only pro hockey team, even if in name only!
