History: After America's citizens of Japanese descent were interred in camps in 1942 (Executive Order 9066), they formed two baseball leagues, the "A" league for the best teams, and a "minor" "B" league for other squads (there were also women's teams). Japanese-Americans from Guadalupe, California were detained in Arizona at the Gila River detention camp. The Guadalupe Young Men's Buddhist Association high school team, led by pitcher Tetsuo Furukawa, was one of the best camp teams. They also beat Tucson High School, who had won 52 consecutive games over three seasons.
