League: NFL

History: The Broncos were a charter member of the American Football League which began play in 1960. They were the first team to win an AFL game that year when they defeated the Boston Patriots and were also the first AFL team to defeat an NFL team when they defeated the Detroit Lions in a 1967 pre-season game. Beyond that, the franchise did not fare to well during their AFL tenure. They finished their first season in last place with a record of 4-9-1 and before merging with the NFL in 1970, they had 9 sub .500 seasons in the 10 years of the league. Since then however, the team has made 22 playoff appearances and won 3 Super Bowls. The Denver Broncos are currently members of the AFC Western Division and play their home games in Empower Field at Mile High Denver, Colorado.
