History: 1961 marked the first year for new Cornell head coach Tom Harp who'd taken over for "the Dean of Ivy League Coaches," George 'Lefty' James. Harp had big shoes to fill as James had led Cornell to 4 Ivy league titles over his career. Big Red crushed Colgate in the season opener by a score of 34-0. The Cornell Big Red Football team are currently members of the Ivy League and play their home games at Schoelkopf Field, Ithaca, New York.
