History: Columbus was a Yankee farm club. Managed by Rube Walker the team finished 7th in 1964 but with a new manager Loren Babe the Confederate Yankees bounced back the following year to tie for the pennant. Besides the Atlanta Black Crackers, the Confederate Yankees are our favorite contradictory nickname. From Columbus, Georgia.
