History: As the AAA affiliate for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1959, the Bisons won the ‘59 International League crown, the club’s 9th and final pennant. Cuban first baseman Pancho Herrera led the way for the Bisons with a .329 batting average, 37 home runs, and 128 RBIs, claiming the International League MVP honors. The following year, Herrera became the first Afro-Latino player in Phillies history and finished second in the 1960 National League Rookie of the Year voting.
