History: 4x AFL-All Star Carlton Chester "Cookie" Gilchrist was the first player in AFL history to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark when he did so in his rookie season of 1962. Although he did not duplicate the feat, he did rumble for over 900 yards in each of the next 3 straight years while leading the Bills to the AFL Championship along the way in 1964.
