History: The Federal League decided to put a team in Brooklyn to compete with the National League’s Dodgers. Washington Park, the Dodgers’ former home, was rebuilt according to the same plans that were drawn up for the Chicago Whales’ new home, Weeghman Park (now known as Wrigley Field). New research has revealed the Federal League’s Brooklyn entry wore an 8-panel cap in 1914. Brooklyn was owned by the bakers the Ward Brothers, who named the team after their Tip-Top bread.
