History: The Mission club (variously known as Mission Bells, Mission Reds, or just “the Missions” was San Francisco’s second team, sharing Seals Stadium with the more popular Seals. The team was the transplanted Vernon Tigers. The team never matched the popularity of the rival Seals, but did win a pennant in 1929. The club moved back to Los Angeles in 1938 and became the “new” Hollywood Stars.
