In 1934 a group of American baseball All-Stars led by Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Jimmie Foxx embarked on a goodwill tour of Japan. One name stood out among the Americans: Moe Berg, a light-hitting third-string catcher. What interested the OSS (forerunner of the CIA) wasn’t Berg’s baseball skills, but his intelligence, education, and adeptness at languages. EFF has long done the authentic uniforms and caps from the Tour of Japan team, and we are proud that they appear in the new movie about Berg “The Catcher Was A Spy”, starring Paul Rudd as Berg.
