History: The Clippers won North America's first championship for pro soccer in the modern era, when they defeated the Baltimore Bays in the NPSL's only title game. The next season they competed in the new North American Soccer League. Although finishing with an almost identical record they placed second in '67 and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Home games were played at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Goalie Mirko Stojanovic and midfielder Mel Scott made the first-team all star squad both seasons.
