History: Due to the infamous “color line”, the most legendary player in the Negro Leagues did not see his major league debut until the age of 42 (some say older), when Bill Veeck brought him to the Cleveland Indians in 1948, where he promptly helped the Tribe win the pennant. Paige was released by Cleveland in 1949, but his MLB career was not over. Veeck signed him to the St. Louis Browns, where Paige went 12-10 in 1952 for a team which lost 90 games. “Ol’ Satch” became the oldest player to pitch in a major league game in 1965, when he took the mound for the A’s against the Boston Red Sox at the age of 59.

Ballcaps

Our caps faithfully replicate historic professional baseball caps from 1900 to 1970 and fit differently than modern caps. Try wrapping a piece of string around your head where a cap would naturally fit and then measure the string to find your size.

Size Head Measurement (in inches)
7 21 5/8”
7 1/8 22”
7 1/4 22 3/8”
7 3/8 22 3/4”
7 1/2 23 1/8"
7 5/8 23 1/2"
7 3/4 23 7/8"
7 7/8 24 1/4"
8 24 5/8"

Adjustable caps fit up to a size 7 5/8.

We offer three kinds of ballcap visors:

Pre-1940 ballcaps were made with soft visors so players could fold them up and put them in their back pockets. Later visors were done in standard (stiff visor) or short (also a soft visor). Check the product details to see which type of visor each cap has.
