League: AFL
History: The inaugural season of the Boston Patriots as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL) found them in the cellar of the AFL Eastern Division at seasons end with a record of 5-9. They turned things around in a hurry by going 9-4-1 in both 1961 and 1962 and making an appearance in the AFL Championship Game in 1963.
Standout players for the Patriots in their early AFL days were 5X AFL All-Star Gino Cappelletti, future Pro Football Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti, and 3x AFL All-Star Quarterback Babe Parilli. From 1960-1962, the Boston Patriots played their home games at Nickerson Field on the campus of Boston University. Fenway Park (Red Sox), Alumni Stadium (Boston College), and Harvard Stadium all would play host for the Patriots during their 10 years in the AFL.
Today, the Patriots are members of the American Football Conference (AFC) Eastern Division, and play their home games in Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts.
