History: A Class-A affiliate of the New York Giants, representing Sioux City, Iowa, the '51 Soos finished the regular season in 4th place, but rallied in the playoffs to win the Western League championship. The Soos were led by Guilford “Gip” Dickens, who finished the year with a .339 batting average and 16 home runs. A career minor leaguer, Dickens never reached the big leagues but did win a Panamanian League MVP award in 1955 with the Carta Vieja Yankees.
