History: Years before the NFL came to the Emerald City in the form of the Seahawks, Seattle had numerous professional gridiron teams. The Rangers were an upgraded version of the former Seattle Ramblers, and joined the fledgling CFL'S Pacific Division in 1967, playing games at Memorial Stadium near the Space Needle. In 1968 the club signed a working agreement with the AFL's Denver Broncos. The team was owned by businessman Lafa Lane, who hoped to use the CFL as a springboard to join the NFL or AFL.
