History: The Jays were a farm team of the Cleveland Browns and played their home games at Newark's Schools Stadium. After the demise of the CFL, the Jays moved to Jersey City and played one season in the Atlantic Coast Football League. One mystery associated with the Jays is whether or not Clarence "The Big Man" Clemons briefly played for them before meeting Bruce Springsteen in 1971. Clemons always claimed that he was scouted by the Browns, and that he played for a "New Jersey semi-pro team".
