University of California Berkeley 1938 Road Jersey

History: The 1938 California Golden Bears Baseball team followed up the 1937 Campaign by winning their second straight C.I.B.A Championship (California Intercollegiate Baseball Association). Infielder Bob McNamara was a mainstay for legendary coach Clint Evans and became the 14th CAL player to make it to the major leagues when he broke in to the show with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1939. FUN FACT: The Cal Bears won the very first College World Series played in 1947 over the Yale Bulldogs. Another first for CAL was playing in the first intercollegiate baseball game played on the west coast when they took on the College of the Pacific on November 6th, 1886 and played to an 11-11 tie when the game was called on account of darkness (27 years after the first intercollegiate game played by Williams College and Amherst in Pittsfield, Mass. in 1859). The California Golden Bears are members of the Pac-12 Conference and currently play their home games at Evans Diamond Stadium in Berkeley, California on the Campus of the University of California.
