History: The 1960's were an up and down decade for Big Blue as they put together a combined record of 55-38 under Coach Bump Elliot (1960-1968). They did win the 1964 Big Ten Championship and subsequent trip to the Rose Bowl in 1965 over Oregon State 34-7 to finish their season at 9-1 and a #4 national ranking. They were led by All-American duel threat quarterback Bob Timberlake who threw for 807 yards and ran for another 574 during the regular season. Legendary Head Coach Bo Schembechler took over the reigns from Elliot in 1969 and the Wolverines finished the season with a trip to the Rose Bowl after stunning the undefeated and heavily favored Ohio State Buckeyes thus beginning "The 10 Year War" between Schembechler and coaching nemesis Woody Hayes. The Michigan Wolverines are currently members of the Big Ten Conference Eastern Division and play their home games in Michigan Stadium "The Big House," Ann Arbor, Michigan.
