History: The 1958 Kent State Golden Flashes Baseball team finished their season with a record of 12-10. The team was led by first team All-MAC (Mid American Conference) infielder Dale Reichert who batted .378 and would go on to sign with the LA Dodgers. Teammate Gene "The Stick" Michael signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates and played for 10 years before becoming a Coach, Manager, and General Manager in the Bigs. Reggie Jackson gave Michael credit for scouting reports that enabled him to belt his famous 3 homers in game 6 of the 1977 World Series. Currently, the Kent State Golden Flashes are members of the Mid-American Conference and play their home games at Schoonover Stadium, Kent, Ohio.
