History: Representing Fairbanks, Alaska, first as an independent barnstorming club and later as a founding member of the Alaska Baseball League, the Goldpanners are one of the most historic collegiate summer teams in the country. In 1964, a 19-year-old pitcher named Tom Seaver (#70) came to the Goldpanners from Fresno City College and pitched well enough in Alaska that summer to earn a scholarship to the University of Southern California, where he starred before going on to a Hall of Fame career with the New York Mets.
