Havana Sugar Kings 1959 Home Jersey
History: After Havana reached the AAA level in 1954, they adopted the slogan "Un paso mas, y llegamos" ("one more step and we arrive!"). The Sugar Kings won the IL playoffs in 1959 and Havana hosted the Minneapolis Millers in the Junior World Series, with Fidel Castro and his revolutionary soldiers in attendance at Gran Stadium. Due to increasing tensions between Cuba and the United States in 1960, the franchise was plucked from Havana in mid-season and hurriedly transferred to Jersey City, With no time to order new uniforms, a piece of cloth with "Jersey City" embroidered on it was simply sewn over the "Cubanos" lettering on this shirt.
