Oakland Oaks 1948 Home
PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE
HISTORY
Casey Stengel led the "Nine Old Men", which included one very young and volatile man - Billy Martin - to the Coast League crown in '48. The Oaks 114 wins was two better than the cross-Bay rival Seals, who were managed by Lefy O'Doul. In the post-season playoffs, the Oaks defeated the fourth-place Seattle Rainiers, four games to one.
