NEGRO NATIONAL LEAGUE
HISTORY
Newark won the 1946 Negro World Series defeating the Kansas City Monarchs four games to three. They were led by Larry Doby who later went on to be the first African-American to play in the American League as a member of the Cleveland Indians. Eagles' owner Effa Manley one of the very few women to own a professional baseball team was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006.
