Hawaii Islanders 1961 Road Jersey
PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE
HISTORY
Generally considered one of the best minor league teams of all time the 1970 Islanders won the Western Division of the PCL and led the league in attendance. Manager Chuck Tanner guided the squad to a 98-win season. The franchise began in 1961 when the Sacramento Solons moved to Hawaii. The new team adopted a bold vest-style uniform featuring Chief Kamehameha. Their green-and-gold colors predated the parent KC Athletics by several years.
